Flying is rather faster and, as a rule, considerably cheaper than going by car. There are quite a few options: usually, you’ll land at Lisbon or Faro. Quite a few airlines feature flights here, departing from various airports in Europe and the UK. Flying on Mondays and Tuesdays may often be cheaper than later in the week or in the weekend. Holiday flights are usually the cheapest option (we bought a return for € 120 in early May), although it may mean you’ll have to get up very early. Easyjet and Ryanair depart for Faro from various UK airports. BMI Baby features some Lisbon flights from the UK as well as Faro ones. Some useful sites are:

There are various car rental companies: Avis, Hertz, Budget-rent-a car and Sunny Cars, to name but a few. We’ll be happy to help you if you are having difficulties sorting through the options. Also, we can pick you up from Faro – for a small fee. We are currently exploring the possibility to rent a car for the day in São Teotónio.
