NOVEMBER

November. It is medronho time. Picking lasts for three months, October, November and December. Every few days, medronho pickers come by to take the ripe fruits from the tree. If you want tasty medronho, the key is to pick only the correctly coloured and intact berries. You can make jam from the berries, but the vast majority are put in barrels to ferment so that later, in March, medronho can be distilled from them. The local liquor. A very heavy drink, but tasty. And it kills all the bad bacteria right away. Also never goes amiss.
